It is the most popular route for bike riders: the Dolomites cycle path crosses the valleys of Fassa and Fiemme, along the Avisio stream, along a path of about 48 km with a total difference in height of 650 m. From Alba di Canazei the bicycle goes southwards, the landscape changes with the rhythm of the pedaling, passing thick woods of larches and firs to Pozza where the valley widens and magnificent views capture the view. The descent to Soraga must be faced calmly, on the one hand because you meet many people who walk, on the other because it would be a shame not to slow down to admire the extraordinary architecture of the Dolomites, with a thousand jagged shapes, which change color with light, dyeing red at sunset. After passing Moena, leave Sassolungo, Catinaccio and the Monzoni behind, and continue towards Predazzo and Molina di Fiemme, where the cycle path ends. Once at the destination you can return to the starting point by bus or the Fassa Fiemme Bike Express shuttle.
ROUTE. From Alba di Canazei, drive the bicycle southwards. From Canazei, near the sports field and the playground ( about 200 mt from our house), take the “Cercenà” forest dirt road. You cycle on a comfortable and shady path up to the Soreghes plains and the Col Rodella cable car station in Campitello di Fassa. Continue along the stream Avisio. Flat sections alternate with short climbs up to the inhabited areas of Fontanazzo, Campestrin and Mazzin. From here begins the descent towards Pera di Fassa. You still meet easy ups and downs to the locality Fraine. Left the votive chapel on the left, cross the wooden bridge on the right and continue on the paved road to the bus stop at “Vac” (Piaza de Fascia). You follow the state road, you pass the roundabout for the center of Pozza and, in front of the Hotel Monzoni, you get back on the bike path. You pass in front of the Rosengarten campsite and continue up to the bridge. Cross it and go down towards the lower Val di Fassa. The trail again joins the Avisio river between meadows and woods, but leaves room for magnificent views on the ridges of the Latemar and the Catinaccio. Paying attention you pass through the municipal road, which serves the craft area of Soraga, to then reach, in a few minutes, the playground and the town center. You safely pass the state road and take the climb towards “Palua“. Looking back, the view is captured by the view of the Val di Fassa, on display in all its beauty, framed by the high rock crags of the Rosengarten (Catinaccio), the Sassolungo, the Pordoi and the Monzoni. We resume the descent towards Moena. The cycle path ends near the Minigolf Fantolin and the Alpine Training Center. You have to cross the whole country (state road or Prato di Sorte) to reach the plain of Moena, from where in winter the legendary Marcialonga starts, and resume the cycle-pedestrian path that continues towards Predazzo and the Val di Fiemme.
