Not only skiing, but also unforgettable trekking, e-bikes and climbing, refuges, huts and excellent cuisine, all accompanied by breathtaking views: for a perfect holiday, during your stay in our B&B Appartamenti Cèsa Planber Mountain View in the center of Canazei , you cannot miss a visit to the Marmolada which, with its 3,343 metres, is the highest peak in the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site; at its feet, at an altitude of 2,030m, is the beautiful lake of Fedaia, an artificial basin from which the Avisio stream originates.

The Queen of the Dolomites, easily reachable in a few minutes by car from our house (12 km), or by bus (free service during the summer with the Val di Fassa Card), has a perennial glacier, the largest in the Dolomites (today unfortunately in rapid retreat), famous for having hosted the famous City of Ice during the First World War, a system of tunnels of over 12 km and rooms dug into the glacier by the Austro-Hungarian army to ensure supplies and survival for the soldiers involved on the war front. Nothing remains of the City of Ice today except the historical testimonies enclosed in the Great War Marmolada Museum 3,000 meters in Punta Serauta, the highest museum in Europe, easily reachable with the Marmolada cableway (from Malga Ciapela to Rocca Pietore), divided into three sections. The cable car allows you to reach Punta Rocca, where the historic Bellunese ski slope descends, 12 km long and defined as the most beautiful slope in the Alps. From the rooftop you can also admire the Dolomite peaks in 360 degrees and literally watch the world from above.

In winter Marmolada means kilometers and kilometers of perfectly snow-covered ski slopes from the end of November to May, part of the Dolomiti Superski circuit, easily reachable from our SKI-IN SKI-OUT HOTEL in a few minutes without using a car.

In summer there are numerous excursions and walks possible, while more than 100 mountaineering routes have been opened on the south face of the Marmolada: these are routes for expert mountaineers and it is therefore not recommended to follow them without being accompanied by a mountain guide. Our SPORT & OUTDOOR HOTEL structure offers the possibility of participating in trekking, guided via ferratas in complete safety, such as a visit to the Padon trenches to discover the tunnels excavated from the First World War.

For lovers of two wheels, starting from our Cèsa Planber house in Canazei, it is possible to reach the Fedaia pass (2,030 meters at the foot of the Marmolada) by bike (about 1 hour) or by motorbike (15 min): the wide hairpin bends allow cyclists and motorcyclists to climb to high altitudes and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes that characterize these places.

A popular Dolomite legend tells of how an old lady was intent on haymaking during the feast of the Madonna della Neve (August 5), despite the fact that it was a religious holiday which as such prescribed rest and prayer and despite the severe reproaches of her fellow villagers . To punish her arrogance, the snow began to descend abundantly without ever stopping, until it completely covered the house, the stable and the old woman, who would still find herself trapped there today: this is how the Queen’s Glacier was born.
