Having fun on the snow, without risk: this must be the motto of every prudent skier and snowboarder
The 10 rules for skiing in the mountains in safety are:
- Respect for others: every skier must behave in such a way as not to endanger other people or cause damage
- From 1 January 2022 it is mandatory: to have valid insurance to cover any damage or injury caused by third parties. The lift manager must make an insurance policy available to users when purchasing the ski pass and wear a protective helmet for the under 18s and the disabled. Anyone who doesn’t wear a helmet risks a fine of between 100 and 150 euros. It is forbidden to cross the ski slopes on foot or with snowshoes, except in exceptional cases.
- Mastery of speed and choice of direction: each skier must maintain a speed and behavior appropriate to his ability as well as to the general conditions of the slope, the unobstructed view, the weather and the intensity of the traffic, choosing the directions in order to avoid danger collision with the downhill skier
- Overtaking: overtaking can be done (with sufficient space and visibility), both upstream and downstream, on the right or on the left, but always at a distance such as to avoid hindering the overtaken skier
- Entering and crossing: the skier who enters a slope or who starts again after a stop must make sure that he can do so without danger to himself or others; at crossroads, he must give priority to those coming from the right or according to indications
- Stop: the skier must avoid stopping, unless necessary, in obligatory passages or without visibility. The stop must take place at the edge of the track. In the event of a fall, the skier must clear the slope as soon as possible
- Ascent: in case of urgent need, the skier who ascends the slope, or descends it on foot, must proceed only along the edges of the same
- Respect for signs: all skiers must respect the signs provided for the ski slopes and in particular the obligation to wear a helmet for children under 14
- Rescue: anyone must offer assistance in the event of an accident
- Identification: anyone involved in an accident or witnessing it is required to give their personal details
