In Val di Fassa there are numerous itineraries that can be followed on the valley floor: thanks to the central and strategic position of our structure you can leave directly on foot for both easy and short walks, or for more demanding ones that require more time. There will be breathtaking views that only Canazei and the Dolomites can convey (click on the title to find out all the details of the route):
– CANAZEI – CAMPITELLO – PIAN

The circular route connects Canazei to Campitello, passing through Pian. It is an enchanting inhabited center, testimony of the populations who first inhabited the Val di Fassa and chose the sunniest places, in the local Ladin language “a soladif”, so as to allow the various agricultural and economic activities with less effort. It is also possible to walk the Via Crucis which offers curious mottos in Ladin.
The route starts directly from our house. Descend to the main road, passing through the private passage in the corner of the structure. Go past the intersection of the main road and you reach the course of the Avisio river. From there, proceed in the direction of Campitello di Fassa with a relaxing and comfortable walk, alternatively on the right or left bank of the river. I reach the town of Campitello di Fassa, go up the streets of the town towards the Church of SS. Philip and James, already visible to the eye from the path along the river traveled so far. Subsequently, starting from the Church of SS. Philip and James, go through the door on the left of the entrance door of the church. Thus you can easily reach the first station of the Via Crucis on the left. Alternatively, at the confluence of Strèda de Salin and Strèda Sènc Felip e Giacum, go up the steps to the right of the street. Continue and, in front of the Marian capital, continue on the right. Then you have to tackle the stepped path, thus reaching the ancient village of Pian. From there it is possible to enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the villages of the Val de Sora, and of the mountains that surround the villages. You leave the village going down to the right along Strèda de Pian up to a wide hairpin bend, where you have to take the forest path on the left beyond the present barrier. Follow the comfortable path completely immersed in nature and its sounds and sensations, thus reaching the parking lot of the Park Hotel Il Caminetto which you cross on the left, arriving on the state road. Cross the road and at this point the route ends. It is possible to return to our structure directly from this side. This can be done by taking a walk along the main road to the house; or, it is advisable to visit the various narrow streets that make up the town of Gries, up to the historic center of Canazei, which features the characteristic Church of San Floriano and the various historic houses along Strèda de Dolavila.
– CANAZEI – PENIA – VERA

Easy, but long, tour which, skirting the orographic right and left of the Avisio, connects Canazei to the hamlets of Alba and Penìa. From here, you connect to the villages of Lorenz and Vera, inhabited above Penia rich in history and ancient traditions that deserve to be discovered. Upon returning, it is possible to follow an educational itinerary dedicated to water and its nature.
The route starts directly from our house. Descend to the main road, passing through the private passage in the corner of the structure. You pass the intersection of the main road and you reach the course of the Avisio river, in the area of the Dolaondes aquatic centre. On the right, the footbridge over the Avisio allows you to move to the opposite bank of the river. Then take the dirt road which, passing behind the ski school building, leads to the exit of the village. Continue to the locality of “Ciasates”, near the headquarters of the Civil Protection and Volunteers. Cross the state road and take the paved road Strèda dò Veisc on the left which closely follows the course of the stream. The route, mostly flat, alternates open spaces with well-shaded stretches. Past the playground, continue the route reaching the main road in a few minutes. It is possible to cross the road, bearing in mind to head towards the center of Penìa, thus leaving the main road after a few minutes and climbing the steep slope of Strèda de Treve. From there you start from the central square of Penìa to go up to the right of the fountain on the Troi de Lorenz and exit onto the meadows behind the town. Continue on the road, paved at the steepest points, which cuts the steep slope to first reach the village of Lorenz, with its small church, and then, a little further upstream, that of Vera. In the latter it is still possible to meet the last inhabitant of the town, dear Mrs. Assunta Dantone. You pass to the right of the small church dedicated to the Madonna de l’Aiut continuing on the paved and flat road with a magnificent view of the imposing north face of the Gran Vernel. On the left, high up, a few tens of meters from the road, the ruins of Insom bear witness to the existence of a third residential nucleus. Continue on the level ground along the paved road to reach the Ruf de Penìa torrent, beyond which you turn right onto the comfortable white gravel road, which descends slightly and enters the woods. Thus you cross the Udàer meadow clearing and descend towards the state road below. Follow it to the right for about 150 meters up to the guardrail of the bridge over the Avisio stream. Pass outside it on the clearly visible path of fine white gravel. Once you enter the wood, you cross it with a sinuous path, flat at first then slightly downhill. When the descent becomes steeper, always keeping to the main route, you reach the paved road. Go up until you cross the bridge, following the provincial road for about thirty metres. You enter the wood on the right on a clearly visible path that winds pleasantly at the base of the imposing north face of the Gran Vernel, slightly downhill, following the course of the Avisio stream. A little further on is a walkway that leads to the old Venetian sawmill, the territorial section of the Ladin Museum of Fassa. The path is part of the interesting didactic itinerary called “L’ega te cuna – the water child”, to learn about the origins and the world of water. Near a bridge on the right, cross it and reach the lower part of the town of Penìa. You pass between the Sonia hotel on the right and a beautiful rural house with a barn on the left so as to reach the main road. Here the journey ends. It is possible to return to our structure following the same route as the outward journey. During the return, an interesting relaxation area is the area dedicated to the beach at the ice stadium.
– BASALTIC WATERFALLS IN CANAZEI

Following the path of Mortic starting from the historic center of Canazei, you can admire a very rare phenomenon: the Basaltic Falls, a particular rock formation with a hexagonal shape, on a basalt wall characterized by a series of suggestive and spectacular columns.
The route starts from the Church of San Floriano which, with the houses overlooking the homonymous square, constitutes a suggestive agglomeration of the historic center of Canazei. Go up Strèda dò Ruf de Antermont passing next to the old sawmill and crossing the bridge on the left over the Ruf de Antermont stream. Go up the dirt road marked trail n. 655 which follows the course of the stream and whose slope gradually eases. The valley offers a complete overview of the imposing Sella group with Piz Ciavazes on the left and Sass Pordoi on the right. A steep but short section leads to a crucifix. Subsequently you cross the Mortic grassy basin with a slight slope where, as evidence of the presence of one of the oldest residential settlements in the Val di Fassa, all that remains is a chapel dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. After this stretch, you find yourself in front of a crossroads, where you follow the path with indications for the Basaltic Falls. After a short walk, you reach your destination. – CYCLO-PEDESTRIAN TRACK IN THE DOLOMITES, IN THE FASSA VALLEY AND IN THE FIEMME VALLEY

The well-known cycle and pedestrian path of the Dolomites in the Val di Fassa is a unique route that joins the various typical villages of the valley with an almost entirely paved route, which offers various picnic areas, bike grills and playgrounds, and thus very suitable for families who want spend a day of serenity and discover the beauties of the Valley together with your loved ones.
From our house, we set off in the direction of the centre, going down to the main road thanks to our private passage which starts from the corner of the structure. After crossing the bridge that leads to the square, immediately turn left to go down the stairs that lead to the playground and sports field. At these two attractions, take the Cercenà forest dirt road. You walk, having the option of choosing whether to walk along the right bank of the Avisio river, more exposed to the sun, or on the left side of the same stream, for a moment more shady and in the woods, on an easy path until you reach the plain of Soreghès and the Col Rodella cable car station in Campitello di Fassa. Continue along the Avisio torrent. Flat stretches alternate with short climbs until you reach the villages of Fontanazzo, Campestrin and Mazzin. From here begins the descent towards Pera di Fassa. There are still easy ups and downs up to Fraine. Leaving the votive chapel on the left, cross the wooden bridge on the right and continue on the paved road as far as the bus stop in the locality of “Vac” (Piaza de Fascia). Take the state road, pass the roundabout for the center of Pozza and, in front of the Hotel Monzoni, get back onto the cycle path. You pass in front of the Rosengarten campsite and continue to the bridge. Cross it and descend towards the lower Val di Fassa. The track once again flanks the Avisio river between meadows and woods, but leaves room for magnificent views of the Latemar and Catinaccio crests. Paying attention, you pass along the municipal road that serves the industrial area of Soraga to then reach the playground and the town center in a few minutes. Safely pass under the state road and take the climb towards Palua. Looking back, the gaze is captured by the view of the Val di Fassa, on display in all its beauty, framed by the high rock “crode” of Rosengarten (Catinaccio), Sassolungo, Pordoi and Monzoni. The descent towards Moena resumes. The cycle path ends near the Fantolin Minigolf and the Alpine Training Centre. You have to cross the whole town (state road or Prato di Sorte) to reach the plain of Moena, from where the legendary Marcialonga starts in winter, and take the cycle/pedestrian path that continues towards Predazzo and the Val di Fiemme.
– MALGA PENIOLA AND MALGA RONCAC
Malga Peniola, description: from our house you can reach Moena (17.5km)
Walk from the center of Moena to Penia or Peniola, passing through the characteristic village of Sorte. You arrive at a splendid clearing where the small church of San Giovanni Nepomuceno is located which contains works by Martino Gabrielli who had made the locality his hermitage.
Once you reach the hamlet of Sorte, continue uphill towards the Malga Panna restaurant. Continue with modest slopes until you come out of the wood. You cross the meadows that surround the ancient settlement of Penìa (1,470 m), where you can stop at the Malga Peniola, a characteristic refreshment point run by Michela, Maurizio and their children. Here you can order and taste the well-known “fortaie”! Return to Moena following the same route. Eventually you can reach Malga Panna by car, and then continue on foot to Malga Peniola. It is possible to return to our structure directly by public transport, free with the Val di Fassa Guest Card, or by private taxi or by car. Eventually you can return by taking a quiet and relaxing walk along the route which follows the Avisio river in the direction of Canazei.
Malga Roncac, description: from our house you can reach Moena (17.5km)
Walk from the center of Moena to Malga Roncac, passing through the characteristic village of Sorte. You can reach various locations with splendid views over the town of Moena and the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Once you reach the hamlet of Sorte, cross it to climb again up to the bend before the Malga Panna restaurant. Here, take the path marked for “Roncac-Col Ros” and “Costalongia” on the right. After a short climb, the path becomes flat and the absence of wood allows for a magnificent view of Moena towards the San Pellegrino Valley. Go along a long flat stretch and cross a small bridge to continue with a slight slope. Then the path becomes flat again until it joins the dirt forest road that goes up to Passo Carezza/Costalunga. Descend to the right, keeping to a wide track, cross a stream called Rif de Costalongia along the other side until you reach Malga Roncac, a characteristic refreshment point. Continue down towards the town along Strada de Roncac, Strada de Even and Strada de la Madonina and, passing by the beautiful little church and the “del Dante” fountain, you return to the centre. It is possible to return to our structure directly by public transport, free with the Val di Fassa Guest Card, or by private taxi or by car. Eventually you can return by taking a long, peaceful and relaxing walk the route that follows the Avisio river towards Canazei.
