Philosophy and sustainability

The Earth is our Home. We have chosen to embrace sustainability, we have decided to adopt policies that respect the environment and our valley. With this new philosophy we have embarked on a path of renewal and innovation.

Our environmental policies

BREAKFAST AND LOCAL PRODUCTS Our breakfast offers local and km0 products; in summer especially on request we deliver to our welcome guests vegetables from our garden, on request also local and seasonal fruit juice. We do not use packaged products for our packed lunches, but freshly baked sandwiches from our trusted bakery with fresh salami.

ELECTRIC ENERGY Light bulbs and most of our household appliances (apartments or in use in the structure) are highly energy saving (classes A++ or A+++). When it’s time to renew some equipment, we always choose environmentally friendly and eco-sustainable products. We also offer agreements with e-bike and bicycle rentals, we promote sustainable mobility and invite our customers to use public transport (agreements with local public transport in summer and an advantageous position in winter so as not to use any type of road transport ). Our outside lights and the lights in the common rooms and corridors are automatic (they only turn on and off when there is movement/need based on daylight).

WATER AND HEATING Throughout the year, if the temperatures require it, we obviously activate the heating to have a welcoming atmosphere, in occupied and common areas. Our structure is also analyzing the solution of geothermal energy. Many areas of the house are already equipped with thermal insulation and others will soon be, to allow energy saving and respect for the environment. We always invite our Guests to save water and electricity, as well as invite them not to leave the doors and windows open if the heating is on.

GRANDER REVITALIZED WATER The whole structure has the GRANDER water distribution system. Pure elixir of life: this is what water looks like at its source, natural and clean, full of energy and freshness. But during its journey, it is suffocated in the pipes, exposed to stress, pressure and environmental factors, thus losing much of its vitality. By restoring the order and stability of the internal structure of the water, Johann Grander, a rather reserved Tyrolean genius, managed to restore its original nature: it revives, regaining a charge of strength and vitality. The resulting advantages are many such as, a better taste of the water, a pleasant sensation on the skin, the desire to drink water, a natural taste in food products, a surprising beauty of flowers, better advantages for vegetables and fruit and animals healthier, less use of detergents and cleaners.

For years our structure has had a solar system for the production of hot water: especially during the summer period (but also at other times of the year, depending on the weather) our structure is self-sustainable.

WASTE AND THE ENVIRONMENT Upon arrival, we prepare a special kit for the separate collection of organic waste in the apartments. Island for recycling. We take care of our garden with love every summer, where we also collect berries.

SOCIAL Our family is active in the social and cultural reality of our country and our valley. We are convinced that only together, in community, we could activate networks of sharing, support and discussion, whether social or environmental. Volunteering is for us a pillar of our philosophy and we are strongly convinced that it gives us important values to believe in, on which to base our idea of Hospitality and Family. We also promote local eateries and artisans.

Our first achievements/acknowledgements:

Our partners at Booking.com have recognized our early achievements. Since we have adopted many sustainable practices, we have been awarded the Sustainable Travel award. Anyone will be able to view our badge, with the highest level achieved of 3 out of 3 in a scale of 32 sustainable actions to be respected, with “substantial investments and efforts to implement high impact sustainability initiatives”. We are the only one of over 180 accommodation facilities in Canazei to have received this level of recognition. This is the result of our daily actions and choices that we make as a family, happy to do our part in guaranteeing everyone the opportunity to live and travel in the Dolomites and in the world in the near future as well.

With Dolomiti Energia, our electricity supplier, we have stipulated the 100% Dolomiti Energia clean energy plan which has avoided the production of 0.7371 tons of CO2. This service only chooses energy from renewable sources, with origin traced and guaranteed by an independent body with the release of the title of Guarantee of Origin, Italian and delivered by the producer to the consumer.
