There are many slopes for cross-country skiing in Val di Fassa, from our house just a few minutes walk to reach them. They are equipped routes for beginners and expert skiers that allow skiing with both the classical technique and the skating, the modern style.
Long snowy expanses, sparkling air, Dolomites and magical silences: these are the watchwords for those who practice cross-country skiing in Val di Fassa. From Moena to Canazei, more than 50 km of tracks await you, immersed in suggestive settings that recall those of Northern Europe. Regardless of the classical or free technique, from the level of athletic training, the beauty of this sport is the direct contact with nature.
An infinite number of routes wind through the entire valley: San Pellegrino-Alochet Pass, Pozza di Fassa, Mazzin-Campitello di Fassa, Canazei and the “Rodolon” ring of Fontanazzo, the latter also available in the evening, thanks to a modern lighting system, to spend some relaxing moments in the moonlight. At altitudes, between 1,900 and 2,000 meters, you can train at the renowned Centro Fondo Alochet at Passo San Pellegrino. Here the snow is guaranteed from December to April. Every circuit layout receives the daily maintenance necessary to have conditions of security and usability ideal for all users.
MARCIALONGA. Nordic skiing is an aerobic sport, involves considerable energy expenditure and Val di Fassa is the ideal gym to get closer to this discipline. Maybe, with a little training, you can be one of the thousands of athletes who, on the last Sunday of January, meet up in Moena to take part in the legendary “Marcialonga“, the Queen of close skis. It is the only “great fund” of the Alps to have achieved the notoriety of the Swedish Vasaloppet. 70 km of ascents and descents, departure from Moena and arrival in Cavalese with a turning point in Canazei, passing through all the villages of the valleys of Fassa and Fiemme.
Dolomiti NordicSki: the largest cross-country skiing carousel in Europe. In addition, the nearby Val Gardena hosts a section of the Dolomiti NordicSki, the largest cross-country ski carousel in Europe. Almost 1000 km of slopes for the bottom, accessible with a single skipass and constantly covered with snow from December.
